A self-taught artist whose work is a vibrant tribute to the folklore and cultural richness of Mexico.

The history of Beatriz Almuina

From Ciudad Guerrero, Chihuahua, Almuina is a self-taught artist whose work is a vibrant tribute to the folklore and cultural richness of Mexico.

Through acrylic and oil, Almuina captures the diversity of her nation, influenced by the aesthetics of Naif Art and guided by scenes from her own childhood. Her art seeks to convey and celebrate Mexico’s cultural values, inviting viewers on a chromatic journey that evokes the essence of its traditions and daily life.

Her background as a teacher enriched her deep understanding of Mexican culture and the spirit of northern communities—elements that strongly resonate in each brushstroke.

Her formal incursion into the art world began as a member of “La Galera del Arte”, a painters’ collective at the Cultural Center of Ciudad Guerrero, Chihuahua, where she developed much of her technique and vision. For eight consecutive years, she has been a featured participant in the painting exhibition of the Festival Internacional de la Manzana in Ciudad Guerrero, a key platform for sharing her work.

Almuina has extended her exhibition reach to Ciudad Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, presenting her work at the Teatro de Cámara. Her paintings—steeped in themes of Mexican art—have also been exhibited at the Palacio Municipal de Ciudad Guerrero and are part of private collections, bearing witness to her growing recognition.

The influence of Naïf artists is evident in her approach, embracing a ingenious and authentic perspective that highlights the beauty of the everyday and the traditional, reflected in creations such as La Infancia (2024), La Gloria de Dios (2024), and Huamantla (2023), among others.
